Question 1: When and why should I have my furnace
checked?
Answer: Most people have their furnace serviced through the months of
August and December. An annual inspection is recommended to insure safe
operation and prevent untimely failures.
Question 2: When and why should I have my central
air conditioner checked?
Answer: Most people have their air conditioners serviced during the months
of April through July. An annual inspection is recommended to ensure safe
and efficient operation and prevent untimely failures.
Question 3: How do I know if I need a humidifier?
Answer: The following are symptoms of a dry house:
- static electricity
- dry skin
- dry nose (sometimes bloody noses)
- itchy eyes
- drafty house

Question 4: Why do I need a high efficiency filter?
Can't I just buy those cheap ones at our Home Center?
Answer: Cheap filters are exactly that; you get what you pay for. Most
high efficiency furnaces and central air conditioners should be equipped
with a high efficiency filter. This will prevent unnecessary service and
cleanings to the coils. The high efficiency filters will last longer,
will alleviate some allergy problems, and limit the need for frequent
dusting.
Question 5: Do you have a round thermostat that's
easy to read?
Answer: Yes, we carry a Honeywell "Easy to see" thermostat,
which comes with large numbers on the face and other brands.
Question 6: Should I do anything special with my
hot water tank?
Answer: Yes. The drain valve should be opened at least once a month to
flush out any scale residue. The life of the tank is approximately 5 to
10 years, and most manufacturers provide a limited six-year warranty on
the tank.
Question 7: Do you offer any financing programs?
Answer: We accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American
Express, Discover) Carrier and York also offer financing packages at discounted
interest rates.
Question 8: What should I do if my carbon monoxide
detector goes off?
Answer: Call your local fire department and/or your heating company to
check the detector and operation of your furnace. Symptoms of carbon monoxide
poisoning are nausea, fatigue, headaches, itchy eyes, and heavy moisture
on the windows.
Question 9: Is it possible to have Central Air
Conditioning if I have hot water heat?
Answer: Yes. We have systems that can be installed into just about any
structure regardless of the existing heating system. Give us a call and
ask about the UnicoSystem.
