Roy Turnbull and Bill Hayes

The Turnbull Company was started in 1966 by Roy H. Turnbull as a one-man service operation. Mr. Turnbull's expertise was refrigeration and air conditioning service while previously employed by the Frank May Company in Buffalo. The Turnbull Company was incorporated in 1972 and two part time employees were added. By 1990 the Company was well established in Genesee County and performed residential, commercial, and industrial heating and air conditioning installations. Commercial refrigeration installations, service, and preventive maintenance programs became a speciality.

Owner Bill Hayes

January 1991:
William Hayes, who had worked for a Buffalo mechanical contractor for ten years, purchased the business from Roy Turnbull. At that time there were three trucks, five employees, and a strong commitment to service. A U. S. Navy Veteran and graduate of Alfred State College with a degree in air conditioning design, Mr. Hayes has instilled a firm belief in quality workmanship and customer service.

By 1994, business growth had extended outside of Genesee County. The Company was providing commercial services in all directions as far away as Erie, PA. Eighty percent of the Company's work negotiated with general contractors and residential home builders was for installations of "York" or "Carrier" heating and air conditioning equipment.

January 1997:
The "A-1 SheetMetal, L.L.C." distributorship was opened to meet Turnbull's needs to enhance customer service and project efficiency. Manager Mike Post, previously one of our service and installation technicians, offers a variety of goods and services with customer service as our number one goal.

Jim Smith

June 1999:
Mr. James Smith was welcomed to the organization. Previously a branch manager of the Livonia branch of Issac Heating, he has taken charge of the Livinston county location in Avon.

Currently, the operation has grown to fourteen company trucks and twenty part and full time employees. All men have pagers and all trucks have radios to maintain communications links while at a construction site or on a service call. The company's ability to provide custom designed and built installations as well as reliable customer service has paved the road to today's growth.

Our primary objective is to provide reliable service and quality workmanship when you need us. We invite your inquiries and provide free estimates for design and build projects and custom preventive maintenance contracts.

Our office staff:

If we may be of service to your operation, give us a call and we will make arrangements to meet you at your convenience.
